Introducing the Professional Crew of the MV Olympus

Captain Richard "Rick" Etsell

Captain Richard "Rick" EtsellCaptain Rick Etsell is a capable, experienced, responsible and reliable vessel operator with extensive boating and sailing experience since childhood in the waters of Washington, British Columbia and Alaska. He has owned and operated a large variety of vessels including a 65' classic fantail motor yacht. He is an expert in boat design, construction, and onboard systems as a result of his successful naval architecture career. A graduate of University of Washington with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Captain Etsell obtained his USCG Master's License so that he could spend summers on the water as a captain rather than behind a desk or computer. Captain Etsell holds Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificates. He is very knowledgeable on classic yachts and historic vessels and was featured in the 2004 documentary on classic yachts entitled "Throwbacks" by John Sabella and Associates.

Married and living in Anacortes, Washington north of Seattle, and the father of two adult children, Captain Etsell is responsible for the operation of the MV Olympus and maintains the yacht to the owner's exacting standards.

Captain Etsell will be happy to help you plan the trip of a lifetime aboard MV Olympus.

Sean H. Bull, First Mate

Sean H. Bull, First MateWhile sailing is his first love, Sean Bull happily serves as First Mate aboard the MV Olympus. Bringing years of sailing and marine carpentry experience to his position, Sean can also assist the captain in any aspect of operation of the yacht as he is also a USCG licensed captain.

Responsible for the exterior maintenance of the yacht and transporting passengers in the tenders, Sean's smile and positive attitude will make every guest feel immediately welcome aboard. With years of marine carpentry experience, the smoothly varnished surfaces on the yacht, the immaculate decks, perfectly coiled lines, and the sparkling brass are a result of Sean's efforts.

Sean has sailed aboard the Zodiak and Sound Experience, two well known Pacific Northwest very large sailboats as first mate. He has taught sail training on square rigged and fore and aft rigged sailboats. In addition, Sean has instructed students in sail nomenclature and knot tying and served aboard the Lady Washington during the filming of the movie "Pirates of the Carribean."

As Dick Wagner, founder of Seattle's Center for Wooden Boats once stated: "Everyone is a friend of Sean - staff, volunteers, visitors, kids and pets."

Sean waits to welcome you aboard MV Olympus for your cruise.
